With one exception, everything you've written here is excellent and I hope folks put these into effect.

However, I'm not aware of any consistent research showing that isolated brain training games (the kind you get in apps to improve attention, memory, etc) work. One caveat - they DO work, but the research I've seen says you get better and better at that particular game but in terms of cognitive improvements - executive functioning, memory, attention, etc - these don't carry over into other areas of life.

Do you have links to any research to the contrary?

NOTE: I just saw Emrah Donmez' excellent comment. What he writes in general is, in my understanding, in line with the general research. And specifically what he says about "mental stimulation" is also in line with it. Here's his whole comment:

Getting enough sleep, practicing relaxation techniques such as meditation or yoga, and taking regular breaks throughout the day can help to reduce stress and improve cognitive function.

By incorporating these four types of brain workouts into your daily routine, you can help to maintain cognitive health and improve your overall quality of life.
