This is excellent. I have no doubt that psychological flexibility and mindfulness are crucial components of all healing (yes, physical as well). In research I conducted over 20 years ago, these were the two elements I found most important in treating chronic pain.
But the problem with almost all mindfulness research, at least as far as I've seen it, is there's no way to know (a) IF people are being mindful or attentive; and (b) there are few measurements regarding the extent of that mindfulness.
This is unfortunate as the contemplative traditions, particularly the Buddhist, have texts over 1000 years old marking almost universally agreed upon stages of attention (you'll find the stages of prayer in St Teresa's "Interior Castle" almost identical with the stages laid out in Sri Aurobindo's "Bases of Yoga" or Buddhaghosa or Kamasila's stages of Shamatha.
i hope some researchers start to address this.
