SLEEP RESEARCH:
CBT I (cognitive behavioral therapy for Insomnia) cures insomnia in at least 50% of people treated. I must quickly add, the quality of CBT I instruction is crucial - much of which I've heard from practitioners amounts to little more than cognitive restructuring plus basic sleep hygiene - which is NOT CBT I
Mindfulness, when added to CBT I, raises the cure rate to at least 60% - but again, mindfulness is often taught in a way that people focus solely on the content of experience (objects of awareness) rather than (as in ACT therapy) the context (awareness itself), which is by its nature deeply calming and conducive to sleep.
if you add the kind of music that is used in lucid dream research as well as practices from yoga nidra, you're likely to be much more successful.
