Ok, 71 next month and I'm not sure if I still have that hand grip device I got a year or so ago (hmm, cognitive slowing? No, probably just too much to do)

I tried the sit-to-stand several times and got it from 7 down to 5 seconds. That was fun!

I did a LOT of heavy workouts in my mid to late 60s.

Also tended to do too much, so I've switched to bands and kettlebells and bodyweight (all of which I love)

For others who are my age or older and life-long exercise junkies, probably at this stage good to focus on the sit to stand and hand grip and maybe not try to do the intense press/squat/deadlift etc.

Just played keyboard 3 hours yesterday at the local farmer's market. Felt great the whole time, and easily could have done 6 hours straight 20 years ago.

Came home utterly exhausted, my wife reminding me several times, "Don, you're not 30 any more!"

So, great column, just for older folks, be careful!
