I've got a different problem and would love to hear from others - being stuck at the beginning level no matter how many computer programs/apps/etc I learn.

so I have 3 graduate degrees (clinical psychology, music composition and piano performance), have taught myself numerous eastern and western philosophies, taught myself guitar, flute, conga drums, many varieties of meditation, have been fascinated getting to intermediate level in many kinds of exercise, knowledge of sleep, nutrition, on and on.

When it comes to learning new stuff on the computer - I learned a computer programming language 40 years ago, I've taught myself what folks say is the most complicated music software, Logic pro, built websites, created online courses....

BUT:

Why is it on so many computer apps, software programs, I get stuck - for MONTHS - at beginner level? It seems like whatever principles of learning I applied in my life to everything else just don't work with computers.

EXAMPLES:

In the past few months, I tried adding a community - "Peerboard"- to our online course. I had several 30 minute sessions with PB experts, gave up. I tried building new BASIC pages on our Thinkific website, had help from experts, gave up. Active Campaign for email marketing (yes, expert help) - gave up.

My marketing coach told me to get 1Password to send her secure passwords. I got it yesterday, figured it had to be about the easiest thing, and this morning I get a reply both from her and 1Password support I've set it up wrong.

Here's the thing - in all those things I listed first - I KNOW how to learn, I know how to take the steps.

In these simple computer apps, all that knowledge of how to learn seems useless. Some of these simple apps seem to me so confusing, I wonder why some of these big corporate types don't hire teams whose primary expertise is user friendliness to create videos and other modes of support that assume the customer is a complete computer idiot.

Do you learn new apps, software programs effortlessly? Is there some secret to it? Is it just that being 70 I'm too old to learn this stuff as easily as I learned other things?

Well, off to figure out 1Password. I had all kinds of wonderful videos and music I was going to work on, but I'm afraid my day is going to be struggling with this app!

Any suggestions would be most welcome.
