In a world in which so few want to acknowledge that w CAN change the way we eat, this article is an enormously positive contribution.
I do have one question, though I'm guessing you would need to know more about me to answer it. I'm asking it here because it might spark some conversations with others who have had a similar experience.
In 2003, I lost nearly 40 pounds eating a 1500 calorie (macronutrient balanced) diet. I also started a 6 day a week exercise regime (3 days aerobics, 3 days strengthing PLUS daily 20 minute walks).
It's been almost effortless keeping off the weight, and I've kept up the exercise regime since.
Now here's the mystery. After 3 months (the time in which I lost those 40 pounds), no matter what I ate, as long as I stayed at the 1500 calorie threshold, I could not lose any more weight (my ideal weight, not in terms of "looks' but health - I'm 72 - would be in the mid to high 150s, and I've maintained a weight in the high 160s since 2003)
But the only way I can lose weight is to eat 1200 calories daily. It works, but it's VERY hard. Not sure what to do with that.
in any case, if you can't answer without more information (which, I would think would require a consultation) I thank you again for an excellent article!
