Max Strom, an internationally known breathing teacher, did a 3 month experiment with individuals diagnosed with PTSD. With NOTHING OTHER than breathing exercises, by the end of the 3 months none had diagnosable symptoms of trauma.
One thing he recommends is working up to the point where you can inhale for 30 seconds or more, and exhale for 30 seconds or more.
Since most of us inhale and exhale at a rate of about 2 seconds each, try this VERY slowly.
