great article as always.

Two things:

Does caloric restriction work? In short, yes (for most people; some who are insulin resistant may need lower carbs, but world class nutrition expert David Ludwig says, based on decades of careful study of the research, even most of those can resume a moderate to normal carb diet - 50-100 grams - after normalizing their weight).

if you've heard that 95% of people who diet fail, it helps to know that's a number made up in the 1950s with no research to back it up. consistent studies over decades show on average, about 50-60% of people who try to lose weight by caloric restriction succeed in losing at least 10% of their weight and keep it off long term. No diet has been shown to be more successful than others in terms of long term weight loss (some studies of keto show faster short term loss but after 6 months it makes no difference)

TWO Support. The single most important factor in any habit change is motivation, but a close second is support. It can be online, doesn't have to be in person, but any support is going to be more helpful in changing habits

thanks as always.
