Back in the 1970s, my mother, a dietician, wrote a book on the importance of fiber.

I've been amused to see all the anti-carb folks out there. I love your articles because you emphasize the joy of eating so much.

I'm a psychologist with no nutritional training, but people often ask me for advice about eating. I tell them I have no expertise in nutrition but i know a lot about behavior change.

While most research emphasizes the profound value of support (support from other people, but a supportive environment too) I like to emphasize simplicity and delight.

Just as with exercise, "the best exercise is the one you actually do," I suggest that the most important elements of healthy eating are (in addition to the food being reasonably healthy without making it into an obsession), is that it's reasonably inexpensive, easy to prepare, and YOU LIKE IT!

As far as healthy - doesn't everyone know that fruits and vegetables and nuts and seeds are healthy? That covers ALL the main diets (from keto to vegan!).

As for the rest, if people want to argue, that's fine; but everyone also knows that a diet of brownies, ice cream, cake and big macs is probably not the healthiest thing.

There are SO many ways to prepare healthy, inexpensive food fast, that is incredibly tasty. Jan and I just had chapatis (frozen; took 30 seconds to heat up) stuffed with salad, and added humus and avocado. Took about 5 minutes to prepare and was incredibly delicious and filling. Had some apples and berries with Kefir for dessert. Took 1 minute to prepare.

Again, thanks for your articles - would love to see more articles on simple, fast, delicious foods. And I love the non-fad, non obsessive joyful quality of your articles.
