All sounds good. I cheat with 1 TB of half and half. Not looking for ketosis or any particular thing other than weight loss. I’m doing Michael Mosley’s 2 week 800 calorie a day thing.

it’s the only thing I’ve ever done (past age 60) that is guaranteed. I mostly have no difficulty with weight maintenance, but maybe once or twice a year go through a period of putting on an extra 5 pounds. The 800 calorie eating takes them right off.

Before age 50, calorie counting always worked — I’d simply cut back to about 1500 calories and any goal I wanted was within easy reach. Back around age 51, it still worked — I had ignored my weight during my doctoral studies and gained 30 pounds! Took it off in 3 months and have kept it off these past 18 years.

But heading toward 60, I could do a 1200 calorie keto diet, kept strictly for 2 months, and maybe lose 1 pound (even with HIIT, resistance training guided by a trainer, etc.

Nothing worked to take off the final 10 pounds until I discovered it was possible for up to 2 months (I usually just do a few weeks) to do the 800 calorie thing without medical supervision.

Anyway, good luck on your health regimen!
