A VERY rare and valuable article that gives positive information about keto without saying EVERYONE has to do it and it's the ONLY way to lose weight.
I haven't the slightest doubt that for those for whom it is appropriate, it's been life saving. I and many other people who tried (easily) a strict 20 net carbs or less keto diet enjoyed it but after several months didn't lose a pound. I effortlessly lost 30 pounds 20 years ago just counting calories - it worked for me. Not for some others, obviously.
Modern nutritionism (Michael Pollan's term) with its rigid approach doesn't work. Different people are different. Some thrive - with great numbers as well as appropriate weight - on plant diets with lots of complex carbs; for others the same diet would be a disaster. Some thrive on keto - with great numbers as well as appropriate weight - and for others it would be a disaster.
I love the flexibility of this approach. I wish more Medium food writers would copy your open, easy going style.
